Following the April 19 release of That Delicious Vice, and just back from a wildly successful tour of Australia, Kid Congo & The PInk Monkey Birds today announce additional live shows for this Summer/Fall. Kid was also part of the “Old Punks” Focus Group with Fred Armisen and a wealth of other punk legends on a recently-aired episode of John Mulaney’s Everybody’s In LA.
All Hail Swami John Reis. He of Hot Snakes and Rocket From The Crypt and Drive Like Jehu and many, many others. His latest career decision is the formation of Swami And The Bed Of Nails. It is yet another band.
John Reis sings and plays guitar along with Tommy Kitsos (of Night Marchers and CPC Gangbangs) on bass, Joe Guevara (of Lady Dottie and the Diamonds) on piano and synthesizer, “session cat” Richard Larson on drums and Mark Murino (of Radio Wendy and Dirty Sweet) on second guitar. Their sound is ever evolving but at the moment is firmly rooted in the early sounds of punk rock and rock n roll.
The Courettes is an explosive rock duo from Denmark and Brazil who found the perfect blend between garage rock, 60s Girl Group, Wall of Sound, r&b, surf music and doo wop. Like The Ronettes meet The Ramones at a wild party at Gold Star Studios echo chamber. Praised by the biggest music magazines around the world, in 2020 the band signed with legendary British label Damaged Goods, putting them on the same roster as top international rock icons like Buzz- cocks, Manic Street Preaches, Atari Teenage Riot, New Bomb Turks, Amyl and the Sniffers, Billy Childish, Captain Sen- sible and many others. Their third album, “Back in Mono” was released in the Fall 2021 and is a truly milestone in the career. The album brings the band in top form, showing great songwriting skills and with broader nuances, influences and sound qualities to their garage rock recipe. Singles, “Want You! Like a Cigarette”, “Hop The Twig” and “R.I.N.G.O.” all got airplay at BBC 6 Radio in England and radio stations in Europe and the USA. “Back in Mono” got top reviews in the main music magazines like Mojo, Classic Rock and Shindig and was featured in countless Best Albums of 2021 lists.
