The Ninth Wave were nominated for Best Independent Album at the 2020 AIM awards for debut album ‘Infancy’ and are nominated for Scottish Album of The Year at The SAY Awards. Recent spins from BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart and Abbie McCarthy), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq), Radio X (John Kennedy) and BBC Scotland (Vic Galloway). They featured at Maida Vale Studios for Jack Saunders and BBC Introducing. Over seas they have had spins on KEXP (USA), egoFM (Germany), Kink FM (Netherlands), YLeX (Finland), Radio Scorpio (Belgium), Svit Zlin (Czech Republic) and SRO Radio (Slovakia) . The Ninth Wave see consistent support from Spotify with placements on New Music Friday, The Indie List, The Other List, Walk Like a Badass, Indie Brandneu, We Are Glasgow, Scotify, Alternative HIIT and Student’s Union. They also receive great support from Apple Music with recent singles from Happy Days! EP featured in New Alternative and Breaking Alternative. Deezer have also supported with tracks in Brand New UK. Happy Days! EP has been remixed by The Horrors, Dreamwife, The Twilight Sad, Mogwai,Low Spirits and Working Mens Club. Debut album ‘Infancy’ was produced by Dan Austin (Massive Attack, PIXIES). Recent EP ‘Happy Days!’ was produced by Faris Badwan (The Horrors) and mixed between Max Hayes (Primal Scream, La Roux, Editors, Bloc Party) and The Ninth Wave themsleves. UK-wide, they have played The Great Escape, TRNSMT, Isle of Wight, Belladrum, Y Not Festival, Live at Leeds, Hit the North amongst many others. Internationally, they have played SXSW (Austin), New Colussus (New York), Reeperbahn (Hamburg), Nouvelle (Prague) and Mad Cool (Madrid). Supported Editors, Pussy Riot, The Magic Gang, Yonaka, The Blinders, CHVRCHES and Suede. They played Edinburgh’s Hogmany party supporting Mark Almond and played alongside Franz Ferdinand at Glenfiddich Festival.
