The Cluny presents:

The Bates Motel

  • Date: Sun 22 Sep 2024
  • Venue: The Cluny
  • Advance tickets: £5
  • Doors: 12pm

The Bates Motel (fronted by Bad Bob Bates), draws on stateside country rock, and Americana and cuts it with high energy UK r’n’b to serve up a dish flavoured with edgy energy and tight harmonies.  Here’s a rare opportunity to catch them live back in the venue where they debuted in October 2021.  It’ll be a powerful show with old favourites and a smattering of new material.

“That first Cluny gig was something special, and we’re excited to be back.  We hope friends that came to that gig come back again to see what we’re doing now. I’m also hoping we’ll draw in people that have seen my Cluny support slots this year or picked up the music online. We’ll be playing songs from Bridge Street, BX3, Let It Go and DeadBeat, but will bring in tunes from the new Bates Motel Band EP, “Songs for the Lost and Lonely” (to be released). Check out the material here – badbobbates.bandcamp.com .

The band was born out of lockdown and the release of BBB’sDeadBeat album of 2020. “I think it’s maybe my best release, and I always had thoughts about putting a band together to play the songs.  It was mostly recorded at Ally Lee’s studio, with three of the tracks being cut at Adam Forster’s placeduring lockdown gaps.  On release there was such a lot of interest coming back at me to gig it.”

The nucleus of the band was there already with Bob(guitars/vocals), Ally (guitars/keyboard/vocals) and Adam (drums). Ally recruited old band mates Dave Coates (bass/vocals) and Les Young (percussion/vocals) to ensure a big live sound.
