Hailing from Ontario, James Barker Band formed in 2013, and consists of James Barker, Taylor Abram, Bobby Martin, and Connor Stephen. As winners of the 2015 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase, they were
awarded a release with Universal Music Canada. The band also landed the opportunity to open for Thomas Rhett on the Boots and Hearts main stage in front of 40,000 of country music’s biggest fans and returned to play the mainstage at the festival in 2016.
To say James Barker Band has been busy is an understatement. Their first single, “Lawn Chair Lazy,” co-written by James, became the highest charted debut single ever from a Canadian artist at Country Radio. The video for the song also spent two weeks at #1 on the CMT Canada’s Chevy Top 20 Count down. The band’s follow-up single, “Just Sayin’,” received mass praise from the industry and fans scoring the band’s second Top 10 at
Country radio. Third time is a charm when their single “Chills” topped the chart, making them the first band to have a #1 at radio off a debut album. They’ve opened for Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Darius Rucker, BrotherOsborne, Kip Moore, Jon Pardi and more along with completing a sold out headline club tour in the Spring of 2018.
The band continues to dominate with 12 no minations and winning CMAO Fan’s Choice award, CCMA Single of The Year and Top Selling Canadian Single (“Chills”) as well as the prestigious JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year.
Their debut EP for Universal Music Canada, Game On, debuted at #2 at iTunes. On the EP, Barker continues to showcase his unique writing and consistent voice, which is both authentic and clear. Game On has over 17
million streams while their current single “Good Together” from their forthcoming album has already racked up more than 11 million streams alone.
Their momentum leaves no doubt that James Barker Band is connecting with a broad audience and fans are showing up in force.
